“As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
I consider this my life verse, a model I strive to follow. Imagine if we all found our purpose, our calling, and then had the faith and courage to fulfill it! Imagine then, once we are all on course to run the race uniquely given to each of us to run, we loved each other; truly loved each other. Humbly, gently, patiently.
God has given everyone a calling. We are to submit to His authority and begin to live the lives He chose for us. On the way, love the people with whom you come in contact. His word tells us to ‘bear” with one another in love, which implies that not everyone we meet will possess all the traits and characteristics we find endearing. Love them anyway.
Having trouble loving a particular person or finding tolerance or forgiveness in your heart? Take a moment and write down your five most loathsome, bothersome and irritating traits. Got your list? Good. Now crumple it up, throw it away and forget it because that is what God did when He sent his Son Jesus to the cross. Despite your list, God loves you unconditionally. Endeavor to follow His example.
